Things have finally settled down a bit and I now I have a bit of free time to do some traveling around the UK. Earlier on Friday, I met up with a bunch of Barclay’s Capital people and I was invited to their Cambridge trip on Sunday.
So I went off to Cambridge by bus… much less to say, I typically would prefer taking the train cause trains are never dependent on road traffic.
Cambridge is famous for its university colleges, so I spent the greater part of my day photographing the various colleges around. The colleges have really nice patches of grass. I suspect that they have people trimming them with scissors. I had an ostrich burger for lunch. I wasn’t quite so impressed with the ostrich burger. It’s sorta like beef but with a tougher texture. I went up this tower at the university church. I found out how difficult it was to climb up narrow spiral staircases. In the end, I picked up some good photos from up high.
Other than that, I spent the afternoon doing an interesting activity called punting. Punting is the way in which you propel a flat-bottomed boat with a stick on a river. Sounds difficult? Sure is. Imagine canoeing, but all you have is a long metal pol. It’s slightly difficult to navigate with such a unwieldy pole and add to that fact, you have to stand cause the idea is that you use the pole to push off the river bottom to move. We ended up renting two boats – the people on my boat did pretty well. The other boat, well, they seem to hit every wall, tree and boat along the way
With punting, I got to take some awesome photos of the riverbank and the adjoining colleges.
For dinner, I had Bangers and Mash – more awesome British cuisine. I feel as though I ate a bucket of lard cause the mash potatoes, the sausages, all smothered in gravy is a lot of fat.
All in all, it was cool… I finally got to do some touristy stuff.
